These frequently asked questions and answers address many of the common steps people need to accomplish to make the switch. If you have further questions or need help, we’re here to assist you. Switch Kit FAQ's

1. What is a Switch Kit?

A Switch Kit is a free service that allows you to close an account with one institution and transfer the funds to an already established account with Charlotte Metro Federal Credit Union. It also provides a convenient way to switch Direct Deposits and Automatic Withdrawals. The Switch Kit provides easy to follow steps along with the necessary forms to complete and mail to the respective parties.

2. Who should use the Switch Kit?

Anyone who is looking for a better banking experience by saving money through less fees and better rates.

3. Do I need to have an account at Charlotte Metro to use the Switch Kit?

5. What information will I need to complete the Switch Kit?

You will need the following:

  • Your current financial institution's address and account information
  • Your Charlotte Metro account information
  • The name, address and account information of any companies currently processing Automatic Withdrawals from your account.

6. Where can I find my account number and routing number on my check?(View Check)

At the bottom of your check are three sets of numbers. The first set of nine digits is the bank routing number. The second set of numbers will be your actual account number. The last set of numbers would be the check number.

7. When will my Direct Deposit start?

Contact your Human Resources Dept as this can vary. To ensure a smooth transition, leave your existing account open until payroll change is confirmed.

8. How can I change my Direct Deposit for Social Security?

There are a few different ways to go about changing social security direct deposits.

  • Complete the Social Security Form included in the Switch Kit and mail directly to The Social Security Administration. (SSA Locations)
  • Call the Social Security Administration directly at 800-772-1213 and provide them with your new Charlotte Metro account and routing information.
  • Call us or visit one of our local branches for assistance.
